Using this website

This website (Ealing data) is run in partnership between ESRI UK and Ealing Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use Ealing Data. To help achieve this, we:

  • Are working to update PDF documents with limited accessibility
  • Structure pages, headings, tables and bulleted lists consistently
  • Use descriptive titles and link text

ESRI UK have conducted a Web Accessibility Overview outlining how InstantAtlas reports, dashboards and websites meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Making your device easier to use

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability or impairment. This includes how to:

  • make text larger
  • magnify the screen
  • change fonts and colours
  • make your mouse pointer easier to use
  • use your keyboard instead of a mouse
  • make your device talk to you

How accessible this website is

As a whole this website is accessible, but some PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

We are committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Issues with PDFs

Some of our older PDFs do not meet accessibility standards – for example, they may not be marked up so they are accessible to a screen reader.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing our services. As several of our JSNA chapters are currently published as PDF files though, we are working to ensure key any new chapters as well as those published after 23 September 2018 meet accessibility standards.

Issues with theme icons on the home page using apple devices

Some of the page menu navigation icons on the home page (in a device dependent event handler) appear stacked on top of each other while using certain Apple iPhones or iPads. We are working with ESRI UK to resolve this issue.

How we tested this website

To test Ealing Data we have used the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool, to help us monitor usability and accessibility issues. The Strategy and Engagement team also manually review and update the site to maintain any parts that digital testing cannot cover.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

  • When we update our website we will carefully monitor new content to ensure it meets accessibility standards.
  • We will work to improve the accessibility of documents published on the website.
  • We have worked with InstantAtlas on the colour contrast across the website. If you come across any related issues, please contact research@ealing.gov.uk to let us know.
